“Our most treasured family heirlooms are our sweet family memories. The past is never dead, it is not even past.” William Faulkner.
This week the Wednesday Challenge on partner Susan and my site is Heirlooms.
An heirloom is defined as a valuable object that has belonged to a family for several generations. Many times the perceived value of such items is more psychological than monetary
These protected and cherished keepsakes help a family not only quietly reflect on their personal history but also form emotional and psychological ties to a distant past.
Baseball cards from bygone days, hockey/baseball souvenirs, favorite family photographs and even at times beer steins fall into this category.
Do you have any family heirlooms that you would like to show us or tell us about? Maybe you have your own opinions on storing those so-called heirlooms.
Our challenges are as flexible as you’d like them to be, interpret at will and use them in a way that suits you – Words, Pictures, Poetry, or Rhyme.
