Weekly Prompts Wednesday Challenge – The Coronation.

“Who we are is not what we wear or what glitters. It’s the spirit that defines us.”— Prince Philip

This week the Wednesday Challenge on partner Susan and my site is The Coronation.

Is there a place for the monarchy in the modern world?

Although the coronation was filled with pomp, circumstance and majestic splendor, there were cynics who not only publicly rejected the new King and Queen but marched in the streets of London carrying signs and placards displaying their sentiments.

The majority of folks worldwide welcomed the newly crowned couple with open arms and enjoyed the historical significance of the event for that country.

Is there a place for the monarchy in the modern world, or is this merely an act of political jingoism demonstrating to the world that the British people love their monarchs despite, at times, their unorthodox follies and foibles?

As usual, this challenge is flexible, interpret at will and use it in a way that suits you – Words, Pictures, Poetry, or Rhyme.
