“I love charity thrift stores. Amazing one-of-a-kind pieces at terrific prices, and all the money you spend goes to a good cause. – Laura Spencer.
This week’s Wednesday challenge here on partner Susan and my site is THRIFT.
We are all as consumers looking for ways to get more bang for our buck. Rising prices force many of us to seek alternative ways to avoid the higher costs associated with inflation, higher gas and food prices and the declining value of our various currencies.
One way that works for me is the thrift shop. Simply put, thrifting means shopping at a thrift store, garage sale, or flea market where you’ll find gently used items at discounted prices.
Thrifted items have been loved by a previous owner, but are usually in good shape with enough life left to be useful to a new owner.
I recently visited a Goodwill store and was surprised to discover that the quality of clothing displayed in this outlet was far superior to what I had imagined it would be.
Clothing for the entire family was on display and the prices for many designer-named fashions were ridiculously low. Ralph Lauren, London Fog and Joseph Abboud were the names that captured my interest and on-sight purchase.
In Edmonton posting a notification for a garage sale has been banned and thanks to the Covid virus flea markets have become summer outdoor events.
Thrift stores offer quality items at low prices. There is no stigma involved in visiting such an outlet.
Have you ever visited or considered visiting a thrift shop outlet? In the UK, they are known as “charity” shops.
What are some of the creative ways you use to be a thriftier person?
As always, our challenge is flexible, please interpret it in any way you wish – Words, Pictures, Poetry or Rhyme.
