“It is not so much for its beauty that the forest makes a claim upon men’s hearts, as for that subtle something, that quality of air that emanation from old trees, that so wonderfully changes and renews a weary spirit.”― Robert Louis Stevenson
This week the Wednesday Challenge from partner Susan and myself is the word TREES.
Forest fires every year tend to destroy millions of acres of trees. Some fires are caused by careless campers. Others can be attributed to lightning strikes and very high temperatures that convert parched woodland into tinderboxes.
All trees are survivors and proudly display their past ordeals with Mother Nature and man’s indifference in their rings and their outer bark.
We readily harvest and cut down trees for our own personal use. But they have their own important place in the ecology and the survival of mankind.
This week Susan and I heartily encourage you to pick up your trusted camera, walk about your neighborhood and snap a few photos of a tree that readily captures your fancy. Share your photo with us.
As always, our challenge is flexible so please interpret our challenge in any way you wish – Words, Pictures, Poetry or Rhyme.
