The Wednesday Challenge from partner Susan and myself is BURNT OFFERINGS
My bowl of instant oatmeal (above photo) met an untimely demise recently when I inadvertently overcooked it in the microwave oven for an inordinate amount of time. I used two packages of the stuff and had problems doing the math to determine the correct amount of water to use and more importantly the cooking time.
The recommended cooking time was 30 seconds but in the morning when you are hungry and sleepy the time looked like three minutes. Who knew? Especially when you are using double the amount. I do now.
The contents in the bowl exploded and spread its tasty contents freely and liberally about the insides of the oven. The water content had evaporated and the crusty residue left in the bowl did not seem to be that appealing to me.
This was embarrassing. The day before ( a mere 24 hours to be exact) I had carefully and meticulously cleaned the insides of the oven. Was that deja vu?
