Weekly Prompts Wednesday Challenge – Retirement

 “I never reveal my age, but I do let people know I’m retired. They can just guess my age from that statement.” – Anon.

This week’s Wednesday Challenge on partner Susan and my site is the word RETIREMENT.

Every beginning has an end. Every end has a beginning.

People who are facing the imminent prospect of retirement tend to react to this fact of life with three distinct ways of coming to grips regarding the end of their working career:

  •  angered by the fact that their working days are coming to an end;
  •  surprise especially if they feel that they are now at their most productive state of efficacy;
  •  acceptance and relief that now they can pursue other forms of enjoyment for themselves.

My researcher/marketing friend Anne ( a senior aged 77)  conducted an unofficial study into this question and recently informed me that the above three considerations form part and parcel of the way folks face retirement.

I have been retired from the workforce for the past eleven years and have found that these are my most productive years to date. I enjoy writing my blog articles with my partner Susan and I find myself honing new skills that I did not utilize during my many years of employment

In this week’s challenge, Susan and I invite you to offer us your own take on this personal topic. Give us your opinion in as open and honest manner as you feel necessary to express your feelings on this topic.

Don’t forget – the challenge is flexible,  feel free to do it your way. Words or Pictures.
