“Patience is not simply the ability to wait – it’s how we behave while we’re waiting.” – Joyce Meyer
This week’s Wednesday Challenge on partner Susan and my site is the word WAITING.
Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock.
Have you noticed that the hands of time seem to slow down appreciably whenever you are expecting an important telephone call, a much-anticipated business letter to arrive in the mail or a visitor who assures you that he/she will be at your residence as soon as humanly possible?
Even the most patient of us have had moments when the waiting got to be a major irritation.
We have all experienced those intermittent moments when you looked at the hands on your watch and swore they had not moved in hours
Today was such a day for me. I had arranged a “consult” call with my doctor on the telephone for 3:30 p.m. I rushed my afternoon activities to accommodate the call and ensure I did not miss it.
The appointed time came and left. Thirty minutes later at four p.m., the phone did not ring. At four-thirty I began to get nervous. Was I supposed to call him or expected to visit his office?
At 4:45 p.m. my curiosity got the better of me. I called the office and was told by his receptionist that I was still scheduled for the call but that the doctor was running late with one patient.
I breathed a sigh of relief when at 5:05 pm the phone rang and my doctor offered his sincerest apologies for not contacting me on time.
It seems these days that waiting times have increased while our tolerances for such delays grow shorter with every occurrence.
Do you find yourself secretly cursing under your breath when your waiting time for an appointment is suddenly extended without an explanation?
Susan and I invite you to tell us of your own experience waiting for things to happen on this merry-go-round called life. Be honest. Share your feelings with us.
Don’t forget – the challenge is flexible, interpret at will and feel free to do it your way. Words or Pictures.
