This Wednesday Challenge on partner Susan and my site is GREEN THUMB.
Do you consider yourself to have a green thumb when it comes to growing plants and flowers outside in the garden but tend to bomb out when it comes to successfully growing plants indoors?
This is a photo of my Boston fern which I purchased in March of this year and which has taken well to its placement in my living room in front of the balcony doors. The exposure is western and my plant (named Emily) is thriving and growing at a phenomenal rate.
The way it appears now is a far cry from the way it looked when first purchased from a plant nursery. The color was not as dynamic, the fronds were less healthy and it was hung from the ceiling in the plant nursery.
Over the months it has become robust and doing extremely well. It is watered and showered twice a week and fed plant food every two weeks. Once a week ( early Monday morning) it is turned 180 degrees so that it is facing the patio doors on a rotating basis.
Although it has a “wild and woolly” appearance it is a welcomed addition to my suite. This is my first time caring for a Boston fern and I am happy with the results. Guess I must have a green thumb even though I did not know this.
Susan and I invite you to tell us of your own success or failure with growing plants indoors. A photo or anecdotal tale would be most welcomed. Remember we can all cultivate that mythical green thumb if we put our minds to it.
