Wednesday Challenge – Cartoon Characters

“What does it say about a president’s policies when he has to use a cartoon character rather than real people to justify his record?” — Mitt Romney

This week’s challenge on partner Susan and my site is CARTOON CHARACTERS.

We ask you to tax your memories and try to remember those specific cartoon characters that made a lasting impression on you and which create nostalgic feelings every time you watch cartoons with your children/grandchildren.

When I was a youngster and television was in its infancy stage ( circa 1956 – 1960) I would watch the adventures of Tom Terrific every day before I left for school.

The five minute installments were both entertaining and inspiring. I figured if Tom could succeed then so could I. I was naive but filled with enthusiasm for the school day ahead. Remember these were the days when Sesame Street was not a commercial concept.

With that concept in mind we ask you to reflect on your own experiences with the world of childhood cartoons. Were there any series that caught your attention? Did you purchase comic books that involved the characters in your favorite television shows? Perhaps you created your own cartoon characters.

As usual, there are no rules, stretch the challenge to suit you, tell us or show us, words or pictures.
