Photo Challenge Flamboyant Red

“A red rose is not selfish because it wants to be a red rose. It would be horribly selfish if it wanted all the other flowers in the garden to be both red and roses.”
Oscar Wilde

December’s highlighted color challenge on Susan and my site is FLAMBOYANT RED.

The familiar red and green colors of the Christmas season have a history that is far too long to include in the brief context of this post.

Suffice to say that although a shade of red is used for Valentines Day our choice of the color is the more dynamic and closely associated to the excitement of the upcoming holiday season.

The green is a verdant color that minimizes the winter snows that have covered the landscape. The red of course, always the symbol of love is its natural counterpart.

This week Susan and I invite you to tell, show or write about the many ways you incorporate the color red into your own holiday lifestyle. Photographs, poems, special family recipes and anything and everything else you’d like to include are always welcome.
