Word Prompt – Eerie

“ What if Christmas … doesn’t come from a store. What if Christmas…perhaps…means a little bit more!” ― Dr. Seuss,.

I was sitting in my living room the other day sipping a cup of coffee ( non alcoholic) when I looked out the patio door and noticed a unique configuration standing in the snow apparently peering into my suite.

A gusty wind had dislodged this diminutive branch from a nearby tree and the way it landed in the snow eerily converted a dead and lifeless entity into one filled with curiosity, intent and of course the Christmas spirit.

A slight breeze from time to time moved the leafy eyes back and forth and for the moment this wintry sprite was not moving from its vantage point. Outdoor lights, decorated Christmas trees and the sound of children playing indoors appeared to hold its attention.

One wonders if the joy and playfulness of the season had magically transformed this branch into an inquisitive peeping Tom that wanted to see what a fully decorated evergreen tree was all about.

Susan and my Word Prompt challenge “eerie”  asks you to use your imagination and tell us how the magic, joy, confusion and hype of the season has affected or influenced you.

A photo, story, poem or a combination of these items will be greatly appreciated as sharing the magic of the season is what it is really all about. — gc
