Word Prompt Shrubbery

“Character is like a tree and reputation like a shadow. The shadow is what we think of it; the tree is the real thing.” –  Abraham Lincoln

The small leafy shrub in front of this tree has a history that is not that widely known.

At one time it was a tall tree with colorful leaves in the autumn under which children played. A few summers ago this situation when landscapers brought down the tree to its roots with the hopes of getting rid of it.

However over the past few years this persistent tree began to take root and once again share the scenery with its more mature counter part.

For this week’s word challenge share with us a tale of a bush, shrub or plant that refuses to call it quits no matter how much the cards are stacked against it. –gc
